I STATEMENT

Nissan will be conducting a safety recall on 2007-2012 model year Nissan Versa vehicles. Nissan discovered that, due to a production issue, the front coil springs in certain Versa vehicles may have insufficient corrosion coating. In states where heavy concentrations of road salt are used in the winter, the front coil springs can develop corrosion over time. This can result in fracture of the spring. A fractured spring may damage the front tire and adversely affect the handling of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.   In the states listed below where there is heavy use of road salt in the winter and corrosion is likely to occur, the dealers will replace the front coil springs.

Connecticut Kentucky Missouri Rhode Island
Delaware Maine New Hampshire Vermont
District of Columbia Maryland New Jersey Virginia
Illinois Massachusetts New York West Virginia
Indiana Michigan Ohio Wisconsin
Iowa Minnesota Pennsylvania

According to our records, your vehicle is currently or was previously registered in one of the states listed above.

III FRONT COIL SPRING QUESTIONS

Q
What is the reason for this front coil spring notification?
A.
Nissan discovered that, due to a production issue, the front coil springs in certain Versa vehicles may have insufficient corrosion coating. In states where heavy concentrations of road salt are used in the winter, the front coil springs can develop corrosion over time.
Q
What is the possible effect of the condition?
A.
If the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, over time, it may lead to fracture of the front coil spring. This fractured spring may damage the front tire and adversely affect the handling of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Q
